Our Approach

Our practice based teachings get right to the core of mindfulness by calming the mind and putting people in touch with silence and stillness (even while moving).

We tailor our teachings to individuals. Our classes can include all 5 of the elements of our program, only one of them, or any selection of them.

We do not emphasize thinking or talking about our experiences but, rather, we work at providing the experiences that can be obtained through mindful activity.

Mindfulness frees us from the intrusion of thoughts, fears, conditioned reflexes, anticipations, and idle speculation. These are replaced by paying attention to the moment by moment direct experience of what is going on in and around us. This is vibrant awareness.

Mindfulness gives you a heightened sense of well being and improves both mental and physical health. Studies have shown that mindfulness practices, by focusing our attention on the present moment by moment activity, make us less likely to get distracted by worries, regrets, and idle thoughts.

This opens a door to greater self esteem and making more meaningful connections with other people. When you live in the present moment, everything you experience can be new and fresh. Imagine waking up and seeing your partner, your parents, your children, your friends, your co-workers in a fresh new way, free to some degree from what you thought of them just the day before, free from your reflexive and conditioned responses to them.

Mindfulness has been shown to improve physical health by relieving stress and providing more restful sleep. It has also been shown to relieve chronic pain, lower blood pressure, treat heart disease, as well as many other physical ailments.

Beyond that, mindfulness has been used in conjunction with psychotherapy to treat eating disorders, substance abuse, depression, and anxiety. It is also effective at improving our relationships with others, including spouses, children, co-workers, and others. Studies done in schools show that mindfulness can reduce aggression and bullying.

Our program is very effective and has, over the years, given many people the tools they need to attain mindful awareness and thereby to work toward healing their minds and bodies.
